ID Badge Holder
2026-02-01
A leather holder for my work ID badge.

This was my first "from scratch" leatherworking project. I wanted to find a simple project to start with (after doing a couple of other pre-cut projects to learn stitching techniques), and a replacement for my ID badge holder seemed like a good option.
What I'd do differently next time
- Work on trimming the two pieces, after being glued together, so that the overall shape is more square and uniform
- Use a stitching groover to slightly recess the stitching, to make it lie more flush with the front of the badge
- Use a thinner thread, to try and avoid the stitching looking so clumpy
- Use a corner knife to cut the window corners, for a cleaner appearance
- [Bonus] Add a clear plastic insert to protect the front of the actual badge from the elements
